A thing - Castiel x Reader (Cassie x Male!Reader)

"Maybe Sam and Dean will actually find a way to get them back" Castiel said to you and you glanced at Dean and Deanna devouring the pie you had just made.

"You actually mean Sam and Samantha" you pointed to Sam and Samantha that had their computers in front of them and were actually searching for a way to get all three of their female versions back to their universe.

"Yeah... that" Cas said awkwardly and you chuckled.

"No matter what gender Dean has he will always be an immature jerk and you know that" you said with a laugh and Cas nodded immediately.

"Hey, what are you two saying about me?!" Dean immediately protested at hearing his name being mentioned.

"Just how much of a jerk you are" Deanna said with a sarcastic grin.

"Look who's talking" Samantha muttered and Deanna glared at her.

"What did ya say?" she asked Samantha with narrowed eyes.

"Nothing" Samantha said.

"Jerk" she muttered, mostly to herself, but Deanna heard her and didn't  miss a second to respond.

"Bitch" Deanna muttered and Samantha chose to ignore her.

"Girls just try to relax a little bit" you said, trying to set peace between the two sisters.

"Whatever, I'll just go at my room- Sam's room, whatever. There are a few books there that could help" Samantha muttered, getting up with her computer and making her way to her-Sam's room.

"Aren't you going to follow her?" Dean asked Sam with a smirk and Sam frowned.

"No, why should I?" Sam asked back.

"Oh uh you know, to help her with research or...." Deanna said instead of Dean, trailing off at the end and sharing a look with Dean. Smiles appearing on both their faces.

Sam looked at both of them for a few seconds, eyes narrowed, before they widened in realization "Ew guys no! It's practically myself you're talking about!"

"Well would you want Deanna?" Dean asked with a smirk  and Deanna's eyes widened.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" she protested.

"Yeah, what the hell are you talking about?! She's practically you!" Sam said with a funny face.

He groaned and shook his head "Never mind, it's like talking to a wall of bricks. I'm outta here" Sam said and got up from his seat with his laptop in hands, making his way to another room. As far away as possible from his brother and his female self.

Once Dean and Deanna made sure Sam was out of ear shot they looked at each other.

"Fifty bucks he's going to her" Dean said and Deanna smirked.

"Fifty bucks and a six pack of beers" she said.

"Deal" Dean said and shook hands with hers.

They both got up and silently went the way Sam had gone before.

You shook your head at their childish behavior. No matter what gender he had, Dean was always going to be Dean.

You glanced at a split second at Castiel, only to see him look at the way Dean and Deanna had gone.

"You want to go there too?" you asked him with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.

Castiel shifted awkwardly and looked at you with a sheepish smile.

"Go" you said "I'm ok. Cassie will keep me company" you told him with a smile.

"Are you sure?" he asked "You might need help and-" you cut him off.

"Cas, I'm fine" you rubbed his arm comfortingly "Go, baby, I'll manage. Somebody needs to keep an eye on those two" you added.

"Ok" he said with a small smile.

He bent down, pecked your lips and mumbled a small "I love you". You said it back and after a second he vanished with a flutter of his wings.

You went back to researching, trying to find a way to send back Samantha, Deanna and Cassie to their universe. Cassie's shifting, though, caught your attention.

"Something the matter?" you asked her with a small smile.

She looked down at her hands shyly "No everything's fine" she said with an awkward smile.

"Are you sure?" you asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

She blushed slightly and avoided eye contact.

"Cassie?" you asked again with a chuckle.

"Y-you-" she looked up at you "You and him seem to be close. Really close"

"Who? Me and Castiel?" you asked and she nodded.

You chuckled "Yeah, well it happens between couples"

She frowned at you "Couple?" she asked.

"Yeah, couple. You know, mates" you tried to explain "What? Haven't you and my male-version become a thing, yet?" you asked with a light laugh.

"A thing? How could we become a thing when we are two beings? I-I don't understand that reference" she said with a tilt of her head.

"Oh, I see. You're still on the time period of 'I-don't-understand-that-reference' thing." you chuckled "Well, I mean that you haven't become a couple, yet"

"Yet?" she asked with a small hopeful smile.

"Yeah, yet. You will eventually. Until one of you decides to spill their feelings, anyway" you said with a chuckle "It could be you or him"

"Him? Why would he admit his feelings for me?" she asked in a low voice.

"Well, basically because he does feel things for you." you said with an awkward chuckle.

"Why would he feel things for me?" she asked and you frowned "I'm awkward and shy. Definitely nothing like the girls he's used to having." she mumbled "I'm not good enough"

"Cassie, believe me you're more than good enough for him. Dude, you're an angel!" you exclaimed motioning to her.

She frowned and tilted her head "I-I don't understand. I'm not a male, nor is my vessel" she said and you had a hard time not face-palming.

"That's not the point Cassie. Look, I know that you think you're not good enough, but believe me you are! All that you lack is some courage. I know how it is. Cas was so damn awkward when we first met. He would stumble over his words, stutter all the time and at some point even avoided me. I seriously thought I had done something wrong, then. That it was my fault. Only when I was in danger would he appear, fierce warrior mood definitely on." you chuckled "When he finally confessed his feelings, though, you can't imagine the relief and happiness I felt. I would have done it before him but I couldn't find the courage to do so when he seemed to avoid me. Now everything's fine, though. And that's how it will be between you and him, my male version. Trust me. You will do all those couple-y things. Long walks on the beach. Sharing bubble baths. Cooking together. Waking up next to each other. Him grooming your wings-" you would have continued speaking but she cut you off.

"Him doing what?" she asked, eyes almost wide.

"Him grooming your wings?" it came out more like a question "Why?" you asked.

"You can see Castiel's wings? (Y/m/n) can see my wings?" she asked  in a low voice.

"Yeah, obviously. Wait, you didn't know that? I thought you knew that since the first time you met with him." you said with a frown.

"No, no I didn't. He didn't say anything" she mumbled.

"Yeah, I didn't say anything to Cas either. Well, then, he can see them just so you know" you said with a smile.

"But this means..." she trailed off.

"That he is your mate? Yeah, that's what it means" you chuckled.

"Then I should..." she trailed off once again.

"Try to become a thing with him? Yeah I think you should"
