Lift the hammer - Tony x Reader x Steve (Avengers 2: Age of Ultron)

The Avengers all laid or were seated either down or on some couch. All well dressed, enjoying some relaxation time. Drinking and having some leisure time. It felt good to spend some free time just as a group of friends rather than just heroes. Even Maria and James had joined them.

"Yeah, who-so-ever be he worthy shall have the pow- Whatever man, it's a trick!" Clint complained, spinning a drumstick in his hands.

Thor just chuckled "No, it's much more than that my friend" he said putting his hammer on one of the small coffee tables. He moved to the couch, opposite it, sitting next Steve and clinking his glass with Steve's beer bottle.

That was, of course, all it took for Tony to accept the challenge. He got up making a 'tsk' sound as he unbuttoned his suit jacket. Making his way to where Thor had set his hammer.

"If I lift it, do I get to rule Asgard?" he asked with a small smirk.

Thor merely chuckled "Yes, of course" he replied and gestured for him to lift the hammer.

You raised an eyebrow and leaned forward, resting your elbows on your knees "This should be interesting" you mumbled with a smirk.

"Oh yeah" Steve mumbled and you both clinked your beer bottles; taking a ip from them.

"I will be fair but surely cruel." he said and wrapped a firm hand around the hammer's handle. He tried to lift it but did not even so manage to move it. He gritted his teeth and tried to lift it, but failed again.

"Ok, let's try differently" he mumbled and you chuckled, shaking your head.

"You want some help there, honey?" you asked with a smirk and chuckled at Tony's irritated face.

"No, honey, I'll manage" he said with a sarcastic grin and both you and Thor laughed out loudly. You both knew the answer to the questions the rest of the Avengers tried to find.

He pulled out he jacket suit and rolled up his sleeves. Soon he had worn a piece of his iron man suit on his hand. Fingers wrapped around the handle of the hammer tightly. Trying really hard to lift it by using the piece of machinery. But, of course, failing miserably. Soon, James was up. Wearing a piece of his own silver suit too. A firm grip on the hammer's handle, too.

"Are you even pulling?" James groaned and looked at Tony.

"Are you on my team?" Tony asked in the same, irritated, voice tone.

"Just represent, pull!" James groaned, shaking his head and rolling his eyes.

"Alright, let's go!" Tony said and they both pulled.

They both tried really hard to lift it but failed miserably.

"Nice try" you said sarcastically at Tony and he just rolled his eyes at you.

You chuckled at his behavior and then turned to look at Steve "Hey Cap, why don't you give it a try?" you winked at him, putting a hand on his shoulder. Rubbing it softly to encourage him.

He let out a small sigh and after giving you his adorable smile, he got up.

He walked towards the hammer and took hold of the handle with both hands. He let out a small, sharp breath and started pulling. He managed to move it and you smiled for a second. Thor's smile, however, flattered. A serious, but mostly worried, look took over his features.

"Come on, Cap!" Tony encouraged and Steve tried harder to lift it. Clenching his teeth and pulling harder. But still... he failed to lift it.

Thor laughed, his worry fading as soon as he saw Steve fail to lift it "Nothing" he said with a smile and Steve shook his head, coming to take his seat next to you.

You handed him his beer and smiled sincerely at him "Nice try" you said softly, patting softly his back. Your hand remaining there as you rubbed soothing circles on his back.

"Thanks" he laughed slightly and looked at you with a shy smile.

"Maria, won't you give it a try?" you said resting your back on the couch, and your head on your hand that was on Steve's shoulder.

"Oh thank you, but definitely no" she chuckled, shaking her head.

"Bruce?" you turned to look at him with a smile and he just shook his head.

"The other guy might be strong (Y/n) but I don't think it applies for me too" he laughed and looked at Natasha.

He gestured to her and she just shook her head, chuckling.

"Oh no, no, no. That's not a question I need answered" she said with a smile and leaned back, taking a sip of her beer.

"Well then-" you let out a big sigh and put your beer on the coffee table and rubbed your hands "-Since the ladies don't want to give it a try, I shall represent you girls" you said with a smile and got up.

Everyone looked at you with a raised eyebrow, apart from Thor who just chuckled; shaking his head.
You pulled your tight, black dress a little bit down and rolled your eyes at hearing Tony whistle, behind your back.

"Shut up, Stark" you rolled your eyes, but smiled nonetheless at your boyfriend's perverted behavior.

"You know how to make me, baby" he chuckled and you just did the same, shaking your head. No matter how much time passed, Tony was never going to change.

You walked towards the hammer and looked at it with a smirk, rubbing your hands.

"You really are going to try it, though?" he asked with a surprised look "I mean what makes you think that you are going to make it?" he smirked at seeing your annoyed face. Managing to do exactly what he aspired to do.

"Yeah, why not?" you shrugged "Besides, what do I have to lose? Apart from what you did" you said pointing a finger at him and the only thing that could be heard was the 'whooing' and whistling of the rest of the Avengers at your remark. You could be just as whit-y and sarcastic as Tony if you wanted to, talent that you used to make him shut up when you wanted to.

Tony just rolled his eyes and made a 'tsk' sound, mumbling a "Touche". A smile appearing on his face at the pride he felt for you. No, not just pride for your whit-y remark, but love for the amazing person you were and your amazing personality.

"Ok, now let's get to job" you took a firm grip of the hammer's handle, everyone holding their breaths. Waiting to see what would happen.

"But before that-" you said, letting go of the handle; without even having tried to lift it.

You turned your head to look at Thor "I wanted to ask you Thor. Why do you have this here?" you said taking hold of the strap at the end of the handle.

"It is used for the spinning and all that" he made a motion with his hands.

"Oh right, yes!" you exclaimed "True, but hey, have you tried with one finger. Like this-" you put your pointer through the strap and lifted the hammer by it.

"It's really ease, and fun. I mean, you should give it a try. The hammer's really light you know." you said nonchalantly and spined the hammer a few times, using just one finger; and then simply took a hold of the handle. Throwing the hammer from one hand to another as if it was just a small ball.

"Oh hey! I lifted it after all" you said and smiled as everybody looked at you with astonishment. Everybody apart from Thor who, of course, expected it. You had lifted it before, but only Thor had seen you then. And so, he was the only one who knew.

You played a little bit more, throwing it in the air and catching it easily. A satisfied smile on your face, at seeing Tony's expression.

"Show off" he mumbled under his breath, rolling his eyes. Though a small smile was on his face.

"What can I say? I learn from the best" you said and looked at Tony with a smug grin.

He merely chuckled and walked towards you "True." he put a hand around your waist, pressing you close to him; after you put the hammer back down.

"I am the best" he said with a grin and you merely chuckled, putting your hands around his neck, as his encircled your waist. You rested your forehead against his.

"At everything" he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at you and you just shook your head, laughing.
He pressed his lips to your and you kissed him back with just as much passion. It was a small, brief kiss but still managed to make your heart flutter at the love and passion Tony put into it.

Groaning was heard and Clint saying "Guys you're not alone" so you both pulled away.

You chuckled and wiped with your thumb some red lipstick that was on Tony's lips, from your previous kiss. He chuckled too and tightened his grip on your waist, to bring you closer. Your hands on around his neck, doing the same.

"Not my fault, Hawk. She's the one asking for it" he winked at you and then rested his forehead against yours.

You just rolled your eyes but soon relaxed in his embrance, closing your eyes for a split second. Him just gazing at you lovingly.

"Remind me that when Valentine's day comes to stay as far away as possible from you two lovebirds" Clint groaned more "How did you even get so cheesy, Stark?" he added.

"People change when they fall in love, Barton" he smiled at you softly.

Just like everybody did. They all knew how much you loved each other and they were all happy for you.

"Not so much when it comes to you Stark" you told him with a smirk and everybody laughed, as Tony rolled his eyes.

Natasha's smile faded, though, as soon as she saw the bittersweet smile on Steve's face. It was somehow obvious to everybody but only she knew how Steve truly felt about you. He wasn't about to make a move though, knowing how you felt about Tony. You did love Tony, but still had a soft spot for Steve. You were not going to deny it, either. And although he knew it, it hurt him to actually see you and Tony act all couple-y and all, knowing that despite everything you might felt for him, Tony was still your one and only.

"How does it go, though? That theory of whoever lifts the hammer?" Bruce asked Thor.

He got up from his seat and took hold of his hammer, throwing it in the air "Well, there is an interesting one. But I have a simpler. You are not worthy" he said simply and groans and chuckles were heard.

Everyone, however, stopped immediately as an ear-piercing sound was heard. You all made your way towards the place the sound came from.

"How could you be worthy? You're all puppets. Tangled in strings. Strings..." Ultron smashed another robot's head.

"... There are no strings on me"
